October 29, 2008 "A is... " apparently not so interesting
eBay item no. 200264861118
Seller: ctowner1gmailcom
Buyer: jacksant
Price: $137.50
I'm thinking the low, low price on this one comes from the fact that the economy is bad. And the economy is bad in order to keep certain writer-artists from making much money on their original art drawings. So it's a conspiratorial plot by YHWH that ends up... oh, never mind... no one would believe that.

"So, Gerhard... I really like those pieces you did for those other people. I've got some (great) pictures I have taken in China... particularly at the Great Wall... that (given my interest in the place) would be really swell to give the Ger-treatment to... maybe a series.. for my office wall..."

The winner... and still champeeeeen: Ger (Raaaaaahhhhh... and the crowd goes wild). ME has posted these babies in his area at www.comicartfans.com.
The one with Cerebus behind the bar follows the tradition I dreamed up with a giant convention sketch of Cerebus that I picked up: commissioning Ger to retrofit a background to it. What is difficult to imagine is just how huge this thing is (22x44 inches... see the original piece, and it not fitting on Ger's drawing board). The same strategy was used with the Rabbi piece.

In case you were wondering about when the next installment of the "World Without Cerebus" might appear, you can keep wondering. The standing agreement I have with Ger is that unless the spirit moves him, why press it? One goes as one goes, as it were. He did have tender mercy for the Aartvark site, however, and sent along some other recent work to share. In addition to these, he also sent along a sneak peak of a couple of Cerebus commissions he did for ME (not me, you know, right?) that will see the light of day soon enough. One is super-terrific and the other is over-the-freaking-top. You recall, perhaps, the background that Ger put in behind the giant con drawing of Cerebus that Dave had done in Houston (it's at the cerebusart.com site). Same concept. It's a jaw-dropper.
And if you are in the mood for fun, the boys over at http://www.robotsandmonsters.org are back in business with a new charity target.
Anyhow, back to Ger... "Nobody does it better..."
