I did not know how 'off line' I would be going when I said that!
As it turns out, sometime last week China, or this part of China, or something... lost connectivity with any of the blogger sites themselves, which certainly cut down on my daily internet habit. The students who are here with us reported that they could get to blogger.com itself, however, in order to make (but not view) posts, from their apartment. I could not get in from the hotel or from the university. This morning, blogger.com did let me in from the hotel (hence this posting!). I cannot see any comments, or the posts themselves, unfortunately.
Thanks to j_ay for the nice email note wondering if I had fallen off the Great Wall, or gotten lost in a big bowl of dumplings.
Let me see if I can find something Cerebusian to write about whilst I'm near the dreaded Hsifan Khanate.

Wooh! I was wondering where you were. So how much of this trip is fun and how much is work?
The trick, of course, is to blur the line: work hard at play, play hard at work. The best part about being an established (gak) senior academic is doing what you want to do (and finding other people to pay for it).
