I was wondering who was going for this so-so page for big money. Sure it from issue #2, but other then that - nothing too special about it. But dang, that is a massive amount of dollars ponied up for a lot of CGCed Cerebus issues. Someone is going for the "perfect" Cerebus collection, eh?
I was not going to the matt over this page except for its charm of being issue #2. I think I (arguably) have the definitive issue #2 page ("snout punch"), and that nice one from when the short-grey-one falls into the murky darkness.
I hadn't been keeping up with the CGC'd issues at all, so it was interesting to see that none of the regulars were buying into this slabbing thing.
I'm totally lost to the whole 'slabbing' thing. Completely pointless.
A book that you cannot read... even worse, I guess: a book that you are not even supposed to read. It's all so... je ne sais... Gatsby.
I show my age.
Buy funny-book.
Touch funny-book.
Read funny-book.
Or, Hulk smash.
Yeah. THe whole 'stamp collecting' thing is lost on me too. Did you check to see if he has ordered two very large mylar bags and a piece of stiff card to 'bag up' his new work of art ;) ?
To coin a phrase: A comic book in mylar is safe, but that is not what comic books were meant for.
Bonus points if you know the fortune-cookie inspirational message that I've ripped off.
Tim - I have an off-blog question for you. Message me at bcoppola (at) umich (dot) edu
