May 18 2007 More Robots & Monsters

So, naturally, I made a (relatively reasonably generous donation) and ordered some robots. I love robots. And I particularly like this artist's whimsical characters.

He defintely felt the pleasure and pain of the BoingBoing fame.

Hey Folks:

First of all, I want to thank all of you for donating in a such a vigorous and quick fashion. You guys really solidify my belief that, as humans, we're basically a good bunch of dweebs.

As you may or may not know, the Boing Boing effect is sometimes a dual edged event. I got 700 hits before 7 AM this morning, PST, and more are rolling in by the minute: as a result, this is just a note to ask for your patience when it comes to confirmation of your donation, and eventual receipt of your drawing. I promise you that I will get to them all... eventually... in the order the donations were received. Please be patient, and I apologize with any hassle the delay may cause.

Also, for those of you that donated early on,the great outpouring of orders has been a little overwhelming: your additional donation of 5 dollars to my Paypal account (joe@joealterio.com) will help defray the costs of supplies and postage. But only if you want to.

Thanks, everyone!

Cheers,

Joe Alterio

There's more for you in todaaaaaay's...

KOFF...oh, wait... KOFF...

I did NOT almost say that...

*** Something I never hardly ever do: a midday update. The response to being exposed was overwhelming and the "Monsters and Robots" donations are closed. The project will live on as a concept, but not for now. The message from Joe:

Thanks for deciding to donate. Unfortunately, donations are closed for now.
A well linked website is a many-thorned rose. Due to overwhelming response (which is great), I've had to close donations early becasue, as it stands now, I'm going to be drawing robots and monsters for..oh, about the next 30 years. I appreciate everyone's incredible response. When I decided to start this about a week ago, it was to shore up our fundraising for another 1000 dollars, in order to get over our required minimum. Since Tuesday, R and M has had over 7000 hits, with over 5000 dollars raised in about 48 hours. That, to me, is amazing, and restores my faith in humanity to a great degree. Needless to say, you all helped us reach our goal, and then some. Bad ass.

I am very sincere when I say thank you for stopping by, and I'm sorry I can't accomodate your goodwill at this time. This truly shows the power of the web, and it's potential to do great things. However, I will be reopening Robots and Monsters in a little while, (after I get out from all of these orders), with more artists, more good causes, and more merch. In the meantime, I urge you to go out and use your time and money to make someone else's life better, and be sure to stop by in a while to see what we're up to then.

Additionally, we're going to be needing some help from some great artists and illustrators that are looking to donate some minimal amount of time to great causes, so if you fit the mold, be sure to contact me at joe(at)joealterio.com, and we'll talk

Thanks so much, everybody. I am humbled.

-Joe
