Although it is not dated, per se, it is known that 'Torontocon' was held in February 1978 and that Dave was there promoting Cerebus, so that seems solid enough for me. I have three other sketches from 1978, dated 8/19, 10/22 & 10/22, but I am willing to say that this one beats those (timewise), hands down. Is this the earliest known convention/fan sketch out there?
