Addendum: Thanks the ever-encyclopedic Margaret and her even-more-encyclopedic site, the drawing appeared in Epic Illustrated #32, October 1985.

You are right - it was published in Epic #32 on the third page of the "Ages of Cerebus" installment. And if ya too lazy to pull out the issue, you can go to the Other Stories page on my site and check out a small scan of it. :)
