No doubt that the cover recreations are nice, but unless someone has a hankering for one in particular [like matching up the one from #4 and eldarro; see (one of the billion posts now listed as) April 15, 2006 - stoopid blogger monkeys] it seems unlikely that these would go over the top, price-wise, so they end up a pretty good deal relative to, say, a color/commission piece.

I’m not a fan of the cover recreations. Dave is a great guy and all but I think he’s fucking the dog on this one.
If they are going to continue this route I’d rather see the earlier covers (like the Following Cerebus cover) as a ‘what if Gerhard were around during these issues’ kinda thing.
I totally agree on the "what if Gerhard..." scenarios. It's the one sort of commission I have been considering asking them to do: to re-imagine one of my favorite original art pages from the pre-Ger era.
That said, I do like the recreation that I bought.
to re-imagine one of my favorite original art pages from the pre-Ger era.
ok, cough it up (please): what is it????
"The page I am thinking of is..."
(now, remember, I have not actually whaddyacall asked them to do this, yet... just thought about it).
The first page I ever bought is still the one I like the most, mainly because it has all the sentimentality attached to it. Cerebus 29 p 19 (Elf, wickets, and the discourse on insanity; and true to form, it was the first posting... so I guess I like it, I really, really like it).
Funny thing, when you look at the page, it's not altogether clear how different the top 2/3 would be (although that last frame would be spectacular). Hmmm... maybe I should ask them to do it in color, a la the Epic pages.
Oh yeah, Gerhard would do something *amazing* with that last panel.
Colour would be nice too.
You’ve been laying off many of the recent pages on eBay so you have to do _something_ with all that money you’re not spending:
Go for it.
;)
The request has been made (don't you love sentences that have no actor? Not "I made the request," nooooo... "The request has been made"). :)
Looking forward to seeing it!
The finished work, not the request! ;)
